Birthday Greetings

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Wishing a very happy birthday to [info]talesofspike (which you'll always be to me, no matter what other names you go by *g*). Have a great day, and I hope that this year treats you kindly. With love and big hugs.

Not a very good TV Meme

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
So, is there anything on TV worth watching tonight?

Chris has been in Newcastle today and phoned earlier to say he will be back about 9ish. (My comment in your journal [info]debris4spike was obviously prophetic). He was very apologetic and acknowledged that it was completely inconvenient from a Torchwood point of view. I just warned him that he'd have to sort his own dinner out as I'd be otherwise engaged.

I got rather annoyed earlier at some floating icony things that had suddenly started to appear when I hovered over various links in my lj, but figured out it had to be something to do with a firefox addon update I'd installed, and so they have now gone back to where they came from.

I've been enjoying the TV Meme that's doing the rounds, but I'm not very good at remembering things, and have a tendency to be doing other things while watching TV so don't actually see much to remember.

TV Meme - not taken too seriously )

Phew, that took some time.

Less than an hour to go!!! There'd better not be a power cut.

What's your excuse?

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Something to amuse on a wet and windy Sunday morning. A selection of 'cause of accident' excuses old and new snaggled from the RAC.

(Oh, and I got a ticket for the Union Chapel gig. I think some squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee might be in order.)

Birthday Greetings and other important things

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Wishing a very happy birthday to [info]jamalov29, a very lovely lady and one of the most dedicated Spuffy and James Marsters fans I know.

There, that's two important things done (I've already been into town to buy a copy of TV Zone magazine so that I can read all about the new series of Primeval). Next on the list is make some brocolli and stilton soup and then tackle the serious business of plumbing in the new DVD recorder thingy that also has a hard drive. I have to make sure it works and that I know how to use it before Wednesday, and the instruction book is 96 pages thick and full of diagrams I don't understand and English words humourously translated from the original chinese. Perhaps the best thing will be to connect it, stick in a dvd and see what I can figure out from there.

Thank goodness the new series of Dancing on Ice (as well as Primeval) starts tonight - saves me from accidentally having to watch that BBC thing with the tribute artists which is nowhere near as good as Stars in their Eyes - nobody even says "Tonight Graham I'm going to be .....". The kids are as excited about these two shows as I am about Torchwood. (insert squeeee here).

Gratuitous Torchwood Layout post

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Right, it's done. One Torchwood layout (or really one Captain John Hart layout, as there's not much representation of the rest of the Bikini Cops here - maybe a glimpse of Captain Jack occasionally but that's about all). Icons in the sidebar as credited, the random ones in the profile box are either [info]bendybendy, [info]boji or [info]lady_meander. The header I cobbled together myself from the pics shared by (amongst others) [info]bendybendy and [info]stir_of_echoes - thank you all.

Now I'm off to bed as it's way past silly o'clock and I have to get up soon. *yawns*

ETA - though being up so late (for me, anyway) means I have pressed the red button and seen the BBCi Torchwood preview in BIG on the TV. Sweet dreams y'all.

The trouble with the interwebs

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
.... is that just when you think you're doing so well with getting the christmas decorations boxed and back upstairs ready to go in the loft, you decide to switch the computer on just to check your email and then decide to reply to a Shelfari invitation and spend far too long adding books and changing covers and having a look to see who else you know is there and what books they have on their shelf and then you just venture into LJ land and find pictures of the two Captains snogging in the Sun and before you know it several hours have gone by and there's still all the uniform and PE kit to find and iron ready for tomorrow. Not that I'm complaining, of course. :D

Ring out the Old, Ring in the New

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I know it must be next year in some parts of the world already, and as I have to get myself and the children ready to go out in about an hour, I'd like to wish you all a very happy, healthy and successful 2008 - may the good times be really good and the bad times few and far between. Cheers!

John Barrowman is on Radio 2 with Jonathan Ross right now. Currently talking about hair removal and Torchwood. And pantomime. Still, I expect he'll be careful what he says as it's only 11.30 am.

Interesting

Thanks to Bendy for the link. http://www.jamesmarsterslive.com/2008.shtml

Never mind the photo, what about the dates. Gigs and an event prior to Collectormania 13 at MK? Brainy and Lex together - bendy might just implode. Captain Picard might be there too. Make it so Number One. [info]spikesdeb - you're going to have to do this one!!

*prepares to book some days off

Birthday Greetings - Belated and Be-earlied

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Wishing a belated happy birthday to [info]denny_dc - sorry I missed the day, but I'm glad you had a good time and I hope this year continues to be a happy and productive one for you.

The early good wishes go to [info]gillo, another great LJ and also RL friend. Don't know how much celebrating you'll get in with all the rehearsing that's currently going on, Gill, but I hope that you have a great day and an even better year to come.

I have no birthday cake icon so I hope you like Christmas pud. :D

Shiny!!!! or GLP

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
kazzy-cee very kindly made me a shiny new festive banner for my journal, utilising one of ukchrisp's photographs of James taken at the Celtic Blues event a couple of weeks ago. I just loved the shiny guitar, despite the awful racket it made. Thank you both very much.

So I've tweaked the layout to fit in with the pretty banner and added some festive icons too. The only thing I can't get to change colour is the pale blue line underneath the heading of each entry. Thank you japewierd :) Apart from that I'm happy with the way it looks.

Wishing a very happy birthday to one of the hardest working people on LJ - [info]petzipellepingo. You provide an invaluable selection of links and articles every day for which I'm very grateful, and don't say so often enough. I hope you have a wonderful day and a really good year to come. You always have such a beautiful selection of cakes, so I'm sending you some virtual choccie this year.

Watching Spooks, not paying attention

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
*hugs* the internets. At work on Friday I got given some super sexy safety shoes, a blue coat and ACCESS TO THE INTERNETS. Come Monday I’m working on reception on a different PC and although they are all networked my settings on this one are different and so I’m all cut off again. :(

Had a great time in Cardiff despite the disappointing gig - and will get round to posting a report, but probably not until the weekend. Working full days and having mum here means little internet time for me at the moment. I've written everything down though (did that on Saturday evening when I got back to the hotel) so I should be able to remember the pertinent bits. Unfortunately some bits are permanently branded onto my brain however much I might wish to forget them.

James’s control of the weather isn’t getting any better – never mind the floods he said we wouldn’t have, what about that bloody snow?? We travelled home from Cardiff on Sunday afternoon through rain which turned to sleet which turned to great lumps of snow that settled!! When I went to bed it was about 3 inches thick on the cars and grass – but luckily had all disappeared by the following morning (much to the disappointment of the children).

Something else that disappeared on Sunday was my voice - I don't remember doing all that much talking/shouting/fangirly squealing on Saturday, so I'm blaming the cold I've been ignoring for the last week. Luckily it came back a bit by Monday morning, otherwise I'd have had to get someone to phone in sick for me - no point in being on switchboard/reception if I couldn't actually speak.

Right, Spooks is getting more incomprehensible to me than usual - I think that means it's time for me to stop typing and start paying attention. *hugs* flist

Like A Waterfall

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Ok, [info]fenderlove asked for a review of Like A Waterfall. Well, I've listened to it once or twice and so thought I'd make a few comments. I've put them behind a cut so that you don't have to read them if you're:

a) not interested, or

b) want to listen to your own copy before reading what I think about it.

Like A Waterfall - my uninsightful comments )

So overall it gets a great big squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee from me on the fangirl-o-meter.

Now if only someone could strangle Leona Lewis for me, cos if I hear that 'bleeding' song once more .............

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
I knew there was a good reason to come straight home from work today instead of going into town to the bank. What did I find waiting for me - my copy of Like a Waterfall. *bounce*

*listens*

Those cheques have waited several weeks already, another couple of days won't hurt. I've got important fangirling to do.
